Do you read English language websites most of the time? Do you think that more content should be in your own first language? This article from the World Economic Forum looks at linguistic diversity on the internet. according to them, only 10 languages account for nearly 90% of the content online. It is argued that this situation could result in a ‘digital divide’, where only those people who can understand English, or one of the other most common languages, will not be able to access the relevant information. It is interesting to note that there are a total of 7,097 languages spoken around the world!
