Raisa Affandi is the newest addition to the English Department team. She is currently a Lecturer Specialist - S2, specializing in teaching English literature and creative writing. Raisa has published a children's novel called Mimi Bo and the Missing Diary, and is currently focusing on integrating poetry with digital art forms as seen on her Instagram account @raisashfra.
Raisa graduated from the University of York with an MA in Global Literature and Culture in 2024. Her dissertation, 'Orature, Literature, and Circulation: Constructing Indonesian Collective Memory in Pramoedya Ananta Toer's Buru Quartet', explored the malleability between experience, memory, and oral and written forms of literature that was used to shape national collective memory, arguing for circulation as a literary form in itself in addition to textual forms. Following her MA, Raisa is interested in researching other areas of postcolonial and global literature, affect theory, gender, and publishing studies.
