Dr. Clara Herlina and Legal English Workshop

Dr. Clara Herlina Harjo, M.Hum joined a workshop on Legal English in Bandung on 29-30 October 2014.  The workshop was delivered by Prof. Hikmahanto Juwana, Ph.D, head of Legal Committee for State Owned Enterprises (BUMN) and was attended by a small group of legal practitioners and law professionals. The workshop mainly covered the issues on the characteristics and the techniques of using English in legal environment and the standards that must be met by practitioners / translators .

Dr. Clara has been translating a wide variety of fiction , non-fiction and legal transcripts of different  cultural contexts  for many years. With such a vast experience in the world of translation, it was  a good time for her to reach more people of the industry she is passionate about. And meeting Prof. Juwana was especially good as she had some time to exchange ideas with the man whose professorship is in law  and understands the translation issues from the legal perspectives.

Dr. Clara is now leading a team of English department lecturers who do translation service for external parties. In English department, we highly value those who stay on the learning lane and stay in the hunger state for self-development.
