On May 29th, 2026, a watch party of the movie ‘Her’ (2013) directed by Spike Jonze followed by discussions regarding the film was held by Dr. Criscentia Jessica Setiadi , S.S., M.A., and Ms. Listya Ayu Saraswati, S.S., M.Hum at the Kijang Function Chamber (KFC). This event was attended by Binusian 2029 students beginning at 13:30 PM until 16:00 PM.

The movie follows a man named Theodore Twombly, an introverted writer, buys an Artificial Intelligence system to help him write. However, when he finds out about the AI’s ability to learn and adapt, he falls in love and develops a relationship with it.
The participants seemed to enjoy the movie. Some students asked how the movies were produced. The participants, led by Ms. Jessie and Ms. Listya also discussed its plot, themes, and underlying messages. They also examined how the movie related to the current role of artificial intelligence in everyday life, especially considering that it was released years before the emergence of ChatGPT and the rapid advancement of AI technologies. Some students asked if the writer predicted the current AI phenomenon, and some noted the dissimilarity of the Artificial Intelligence in the movie to AIs such as ChatGPT, rather, more similar to chatbots such as Character AI, Janitor AI, and many more.

The discussion concluded on the notes of current reception of AI, its cautionary messages, and concerns about the potential impact of AI remain highly relevant today.
