Haiku in English
Haiku is a form of Japanese poem whose basic rule is 5/7/5: five syllables in the first line, seven in the second, and five in the third. The form has been widely accepted, appreciated, and adapted by English poets and authors.
You can compare two haikus produced by Matsui Basho, a Japanese haiku master, and Sonia Sanchez, an African American poet and author.
What about you, do you have a haiku that you can share for us to savor?
