Be Creative And Digital, Even When Artificial
As part of BIFEST 2026, BINUS’ English Department held the talkshow “Be Creative, Be Digital (In the Age of AI)” on 6 May 2026. The speakers of the event were Dr. Risa R. Simanjuntak, Danu Widhyatmoko, and Dr. Andreas Akun; with Irfan Rifai, Ph.D. serving as the moderator.

After a brief quiz session through Kahoot about the department’s vision and mission, the participants – all of them Creative Digital English students – were shown predictions on the future of the workforce in Indonesia, especially that of the content industry. The effects of AI on work were explored as the speakers touched on subjects such as the “AI anxiety” common among undergraduates and the Laws of Robotics first coined by the late writer and professor Isaac Asimov. One concept that was repeated throughout the talkshow was the idea of the “human advantage”, that despite the increase in AI prompting, the fact remained that the output was seldom perfect, needing human input to meet human expectations.

Through initiatives like this, students at BINUS are encouraged to become not only creative, but also adaptable. In a world increasingly reliant on AI, the ability to express human creativity with and without it is becoming more important than ever, and events such as this help students prepare for the whatever lies ahead in their future.
