Onomatopoeia
How does a dog or a cricket sound in your culture? What about the sound of the pouring or dripping rain fall? It’s interesting how they are described differently across languages and cultures, isn’t it?
In English, the way that those sounds formed and described is called onomatopoeia.
If you’re a writer or a writer to-be, adding onomatopoeia in your writing may bring a different atmosphere, feel or even sense of action. Action-packed comic books like Batman and Robin in the 1950’s make a good example.
