Alumni News Update: Yoan Kristianti
What are you up to now?
Currently, I’m working at Artisan Professionnel, an Indonesian false eyelashes brand. My role is to help the International Business division mapping the path to global market. Previously, I run my small business in corporate translation especially doing some Annual Reports and legal agreements.
Why did you choose to pursue English Literature?
Back then, the reason I chose English as my major was simply because I love language and I thought English is a primary language to master in order to entering globalization. Now, I realize that by learning English, I got a basic skill in communication, trained to see from different perspectives and learned how to express it in different styles of sentences.
What do you miss the most from your university life in BINUS University’s English Department?
I missed learning Literature theories. I imagine with the easy access of information like today, learning Literature theories and analyzing those novel, plays, etc would be very easy and more intriguing; And of course, I missed HIMSI!

Advice for prospective/current students
What you’ve got in English Literature is your capital. However, you should keep your eyes wide-open to see and learn different skills. You will need various skills to be ready entering work life (i.e: critical thinking, problem solving, copywriting, etc). My suggestion: learn everything and absorb as much as you can during your college years.
