What Is Procrastination?




Why do we procrastinate? Or, in other words, why do we delay doing things that we have to do?


The answer lies in stress. If you stop work to watch a funny YouTube video, check your Facebook newsfeed, or post a photo on Instagram, you are temporarily getting a boost of pleasure that relieves the stress of having to do something that might be boring, difficult and lacking in immediate reward.

One of the big reason students fail in their studies is because they procrastinate. In the next series of posts I will look at procrastination in more detail.
