The MAKRAB Night!

HIMSI (English department student Association) is an organization that aspires to widen or develop the potential of each and every student . In order to make this happen, several activities are conducted . These activities will then require every student to interact with everyone; from seniors, juniors and also lecturers. Makrab , Malam Keakraban, is one of those events that creates interactions between all student in the English Department of Bina Nusantara University. It was held on May 13th, 2015 in Pisa Kafe Mahakam.

Moreover the goals of this event are as a medium of interaction between one another for both those in different semesters and different classes for the English Department students, increase teamwork, communication, creativity, and better socializing between each students in the English Department, also strengthens the relationship between seniors and juniors in the English Department.
Furthermore, “Jazz Age” was chosen as a theme because it still related to what is studied in English Literature in American culture and society course. Along with jazz went the “craziest” when people would do crazy things for fun. So, we held this event without omitting the element of English Literature.

The event was arranged by 22 committees and all of them did the job very well. To jazz up the evening , we made some games which required all participants to join. Besides games, the were 2 performers from each generation (2017 and 2018) of English Department student. Makrab was really fun. Everyone enjoyed their time. Pisa Kafe’s view support the theme of the event, because it was very vintage, and also the food was delicious. Moreover, this event was not only about playing games and enjoying performances, but also it had a door prize for those students who were lucky, and the participants were given a goodie bag as souvenir.

 

 

 

In addition, to close our event,we invited Is and Comi (who is a lecturer of English Department) of Payung Teduh band as guest star. Their performance was beautiful and amazing. Everyone gathered in front of where they were performing and singing together. All in all, this event was a success with a very good work from the committees, and it is hoped that this kind of event will be held again to the improve the sense of togetherness among the stakeholders of the English Department of Bina Nusantara University.
