The English department is proud to present a lecture on Contemporary Asian Horror by Mr. Anton Sutandio, Ph.D. In this talk, Pak Anton would explore the aesthetics, political ambitions and the growing transnationalism of contemporary Asian Horror of the 21st century (2001-2014) (limited to Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, Philippines, Hong Kong, Japan, and South Korea), and to better understand the cinematic style of contemporary Asian horror films, their stock figures, conventions, interactions, influences, as well as their critical potential.
