English Course for IKEA Indonesia Frontliners
On Monday, February 23rd, three of our lecturers; Wiwik Andreani , Yani Susanti and Irfan Rifai were accompanied by Mereditha, Nadhya Larassati and Gendis Annisa to have a diagnostic test for a group of 40 IKEA Indonesia’s employees who would join an English course especially prepared for the furniture-giant company.
The course is our first collaboration with IKEA, which is due to its nature as an international company, requires its front liners to be able to demonstrate confident and clear communication in an international language such as English . To start the program, the English department team believe that they would need students’ level of English competency. For that particular reason, the team conducted a diagnostic test on Monday.
The diagnostic test was designed to measure the participants’ ability in both productive and receptive skills. For the first part of the test, participants were tested for their ability to understand a reading text and an ability to recount their daily activities in a written form. The test lasted for 45 minutes. After the written test, participants were interviewed in three different rooms.
The English department team is pretty impressed with the spirit and the enthusiasm shown by the participants. With the training to start next week, the team is hopeful that the employees would be able to maintain such positive attitudes.
We wish the English department trainers and the employees all the very best with the 4 – month training. Long live the spirit of continuous learning and development! [irf].
