Table Manner Workshop at Pullman Hotel
A group 0f 21 students was accompanied by two of our lecturers, Ms. Ina Djamhur and Ms. Ismayanti to join a table manner workshop held by and in Pullman Hotel, Jakarta on June 11, 2014. The workshop was aimed to teach the students the ethics and the standards of internationally accepted manners while dining.
Arriving early, the group of tourism-stream students were given a tour around the 5 star hotel. Being curious in nature, our students were keen to ask questions and interacted with the the managers, the chefs and the persons in charge in the kitchen, rooms, ballrooms, and pools. The tour has surely given our students a better understanding of hotel business management and its facilities.
Having had the tour, the students were then taken to the room where the workshop would take place. It was a nice room designed in a restaurant setting with tables and chairs arranged tidily. The restaurant manager soon shared his expertise on the table manner in an interesting style. But the workshop did not stop only in the presentation because right after that, the students had the opportunity of practicing what they were told. ” It was real food and beverages and real demonstration of manners from us!,” commented a student.
Over all, the students found that the workshop was a fruitful one. They felt that they have learned the ropes of the hotel industry in general and most importantly, the table manner experience given by professionals from the industry.
