Did you know that there is an English talk  show  program on Binus TV?  Did you also know that the program is run by students of English department? Yes, Face Two Face it is! The only English talk – show program on Binus TV that has run for approximately three years.  Mr. Irfan, one of our lecturers, was among the first host of this talk show. He then gave the students of English department the opportunity to be his successor so that the students could improve and sharpen some skills. Debby and I are the current hosts of this talk show.  I will share what I have experienced after having hosted several episodes.

Since I first hosted this talk show, I have learned many things –  such as  managing my  speed, body language, tone of talking  and  maintaining the flow  of the program  and many more. Not once did I have problems controlling the speed while talking,  luckily, I could practice sustaining the perfect speed before, during or even after the show. Through Social Media, I usually share the post taping / live production videos or photos in hopes of shooting up the number of the viewers.   I hope that it would increase viewers’ sense of curiosity. I really enjoy promoting the talk show regardless of the comments I will get.  Well, I guess that makes me a risk taker.

Finding a suitable topic for one episode is not as easy as it may seem. Not only does it have to be discussable, but also worth discussing. Otherwise, the viewers will gradually feel lazy. The thought of wanting to become a great host and make the program a great one keeps me thinking. The crew and I are now considering making slight difference in the concept of this talk show. Hence, I have also learned that becoming a host in a talk show can make one knowledgeable because he needs to learn and understand the topic quite well before the show starts.

All in all, I have learned many things that I did not learn before. It is reasonably much of the ideal talk show a great host would love to be in . All I do hope is that it can be a talk show that enriches people’s knowledge, inspires people, and, at the same time, entertains. Additionally, I wish it to enhance the reputation of our department. Lastly, never do I want to forget to thank Journalism Club and Binus TV for the chance given to me. The show will only get better.
